Create the Black Vestaments Bazaar Package. On the page The Pharos - First Ascent, it's marked by 2 on the map, and you should already have this Mask if you followed the guide. Treasure in The Pharos - First Ascent - Horizon’s Cusp. The chest has a 5% chance of containing a Black Mask, only if your party leader has a Diamond Armlet equipped. The map on the page Balfonheim Port & The Feywood has it listed by the letter A. Treasure in Cerobi Steppe - The Terraced Bank. You also want three Black Masks (and during the fight, you'll just need to be comfortable with switching out equipment if one of your party dies). You should also have Excalibur, and you're going to want to equip this as Zodiark is weak to Holy, and this means that Excalibur will inflict a lot of damage on Zodiark. You'll fight Hashmal in this trial, and there's a chance that you could steal a Ribbon from him. If you feel confident enough, you could head into the Trials and get to Trial 49. There's also a chance that a chest will spawn in the Henne Mines that contains a Ribbon. You can get a Ribbon in the Phon Coast Hunt Club. Having at least one Ribbon is a good idea if you can take the time to get two or three, even better. 
The enemies you'll fight getting to Zodiark are level 65 themselves. The first one is that you should be at least level 70 to attempt fighting him. It will more than likely take you several attempts to beat Zodiark, and a lot of preparation should go into fighting him.
Zodiark's move Darkja has a chance of wiping your entire party, and there is no way to prevent this. There is no Save Crystal before fighting Zodiark, meaning preparing to fight him needs to include preparation of just getting to where he is. Getting to where he is in the Henne Mines means crossing the path of a number of Level 65 enemies that can devastate your party on their own.
